Darker Gold           

featuring Jane Oliver, cello 

Darker Gold is the working title of collaboration between cellist Jane Oliver and composers Ben Heneghan and Ian Lawson.  The focus of the project has been to explore the possibilities of writing and producing new music for the cello that is both fresh and musically distinctive but also attractive and accessible if not downright commercial!

12 tracks have been produced, including an arrangement of The Swan – perhaps the cello’s greatest hit.  However, as the project developed it became clear that we needed to focus the writing to produce a more unified, distinctive and marketable whole.

The cello has a special place in the hearts of the general music lover.  The cello is associated with warm melody, high emotion and haunting melancholy – elements that are timeless and transcend the boundaries of style.
